Rumours Abound Arafat's Death

Palestinian President Yasser Arafat was determined to be clinically dead on Thursday in a French hospital, Israel's Channel Two television said citing French sources.

President Bush responded to reports Yasser Arafat may have died saying "may God bless his soul" moments before a French official said Arafat is still alive.

Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurie denied the report, saying: "I have just spoken to the officials in Paris and they say the situation is still as it was. He is still in the intensive care unit."

There is no denying however that his health has deteriorated, and unless there is a dramatic change his death will no doubt be imminent.
