Last Minute Deal Saves Liberals from Defeat

Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin narrowly averted a political crisis by changing the wording of a Bloc Quebecois sub-amendment that threatening to topple his Liberal minority government.

The Bloc's original sub-amendment to the government's throne speech asked Ottawa to respect provincial jurisdictions and take into account that its greater taxing power lowers provincial revenues.

Obviously the Politicians decided they weren't prepared for another election - YET. Now if only they would get off their pompous duffs and do what they were elected for - i.e. get some work done. Until next time. Adieu.
